help using ez drummer/Drumcore free in GT3

Is there an overwrite mode for recording

I only seem to be able to record in "sound on sound" mode when I record a new take over existing content - so it blends my most recent take with the previous one. Is there a way to replace what was there without having to select and delete it first?..
