This, along with the companion offline tool DROffline, is the commercial version of the once-free TT Dynamic Range meter. Although largely obsoleted by EBU metering, it's still very useful. Especially the offline version, which lets you compare a collection of files for dynamic range. Those can be an album or a comparison of your masters to your favorite commercial masters.

I never used the plugin version much, but at $9 I'd still recommend it, especially if you don't have more advanced metering tools at hand. But the offline batch version is a tool anyone can benefit from.

The text on the DROffline page says if you buy DRMeter you get DROffline for free. However, I haven't actually found out how to do that. It could be stale text that was supposed to be removed.

i bought this one a few months ago and was looking foward to using it. apparently this same company has a legendary dsp guru working for them (they are going to release the algorithmix eqs soon etc) but it requires codemeter stick or software  asnd for the life of me I couldn't get it going. I spent about $100 of time trying to get the damned thing working before I gave up.

I didn't see anything in the "requirements" text about a dongle.

I also checked Brainworx's version, bx_meter, and see nothing about a dongle requirement.

I wouldn't know for sure, as I am still using the original software from the Pleasurize Music Foundation.

the MAAT guys think the plugin alliance version is an inept approximation of theirs... seems there is no love lost between the companies- at least on the MAAT side. from gearslutz (17june2017):

"Brainworx was never involved in any part of the development.

And yes, Dirk got upset when we had to switch to another model after collecting less than $700 donations for more than 50k downloads in order to give the PMF a chance to survive. Brainworx took our code (without permission) and created a more expensive tool based on that code to sell it. Fortunately the original TT as well as the new MAAT version is far more responsive and eye candy as B´s copy.
The one side of the game is the code and the other side is to deal with some tricky stuff in the openGL realms to adopt it for Mac and to make it as responsive and smooth.
BTW: The new DROffline is already running and tested. It´s just the final wrapping into a convenient copy protection scheme that still needs some love and testing."

I still have the original on my hard drive somewhere, but I do believe the new T-racks 5 has an IK version of this tool built in now.

With the Brainworx, Waves, Hornet, and a few others is this a necessity?  Meters seem like the new fad.
