I love mag-lev stuff, but this return to turntables seems ridiculous to me.  Maybe I'll wait for the return of the 8-track tape next... YMMV.

I don't know how that thing can work. The cartridge assembly requires fluctuations in a small magnetic field to generate very small voltages. The levitation of the platter requires massive magnetic field strength. I don't see how the two can live together without the massive magnetic field distorting the output from the cartridge.

I would assume this technology is immune from hard walking steps on a bouncy type floor (e.g., wood). I recall having to tip-toe around my turntable.

    Broken pencils are pointless.

Plus you'd have to de-magnetize your records after each use.

    Fortunately, such a device exists

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

When you read the "logic" behind this device it reinforces my thoughts on the Mag-Lev. It's all bollocks.
