MATRIX WILL NOT PLAY BACK MIDI INFO

I HAD BEEN SUCCESSFULLY DRAGGING AND DROPPING MIDI CLIPS FROM THE TRACK VIEW TO THE MATRIX CELLS WITH NO PROBLEM, BUT MY MATRIX CELLS NO LONGER ARE WORKING-WHENEVER I TRIGGER THEM THEY NO LONGER PLAYBACK.  I LOOKED IN THE HELP CONTENT AND CANT FIND ANYTHING THAT I MIGHT HAVE ACCIDENTALLY DISABLED, BUT CANT FIND ANYTHING. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CREATE NEW PROJECTS CREATING NEW TRACKS, BUT STILL HAVE NO SUCCESS; THE CELLS ARE PLAYING BACK, BUT I DONT HEAR ANYTHING.  THE CLIPS PLAYBACK FINE IN THE TRACK VIEW BUT NOT  THE MATRIX CELLS.  HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE?

Presumably the Matrix outputs are set to the correct tracks? Checked the row solos and mutes? Other than that not really sure. Are you seeing meter movement on the tracks in the track view when a cell is playing back?

can you post a screenshot of the matrix view and the track inspector for the destination of the midi clip?

So I contacted tech support today and guess I did make one piece of headway-the softsynths work fine in the Matrix cells but not the hardware midi devices are being triggered!  So could there be some sort of midi setting that got switched accidentally?

Which version of Sonar? The matrix view in X1 and earlier versions can't/won't send MIDI to hardware outputs. I can't remember if this was fixed for X2 or not (and I'm not a the DAW at the moment to check).

    Sonar Platinum 64bit, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, I7 3770K Ivybridge, 16GB Ram, Gigabyte Z77-D3H m/board,
ATI 7750 graphics+ 1GB RAM, 2xIntel 520 series 220GB SSDs, 1 TB Samsung F3 + 1 TB WD HDDs, Seasonic fanless 460W psu, RME Fireface UFX, Focusrite Octopre.
Assorted real synths, guitars, mandolins, diatonic accordions, percussion, fx and other stuff.

wow-are you serious?-How is it that the tech support rep. would not have given me that info? I am using X1....but I could have sworn that I used it before to trigger the hardware synths, but maybe Im wrong....I write so infrequently do to my schedule that I cant say for sure.  Can someone please verify if you can use the Matrix with hardware synths and if this has changed in X2!.....I might be able to actually talk my wife into letting me get X2 lol!

I can confirm this is the case. This was a big feature request for us in X1, and ultimately implemented in SONAR X2. That particular feature is actually listed as one of the additions in the "What's New" section. http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sonar/whats-new.aspx

Sorry for the confusion! If you want to give it a whirl you can give the X2 demo a try, as there are obviously a number of additional enhancements that go beyond that one particular feature.
