M-Audio Keystation Pro 88
I have an Edirol PCR 300 that I've used as a controller without any hitches (love it). Recently a friend gave me an M-Audio Keystation Pro that he wants to sell. I've been trying to set it up as a controller, but with no luck whatsoever. I can get it to act as a midi controller (that is, use the keyboard to play soft synths), but that's where it ends. I would love to be able to use all of the sliders, knobs and buttons like I can on the PCR 300. Can anyone guide me on this one? Also, can I use both controllers simultaneosly? Thank you. Paul

Paul Yes - you should be able to use both controllers simultaneously. Here is an (old) description of how to set up the Keystation with Enigma and ACT for SONAR - See Post 15 http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=870497

What version of Sonar are you using? And yes you can use more then one controller. If you have Sonar 8.5 is comes with a preset for the KS Pro 88 for ACT. But you may need to set the Pro 88 to its default factory setting and then use the first program. You reset it by turning it on while holding the + and - keys down on it.

Thanks for the responses. I am using Sonar 8.5.1, but I don't see the preset in the Controllers dropdown.

Still no luck - I can't get the dials or sliders to transmit any kind of data whatsoever, and the transport section on the Keystation does nothing at all. There has to be something quite simple that I am not understanding. I've been through the manuals and have had no luck. Is there any Controller Preset that is available somewhere for download. Is there a reason that there is not already a Keystation preset in the Sonar 8.5 controllers preset dropdown?

Its not a control surface it is a MIDI controller and will work as such. As for it doing things a CS does it is not very good at that. As an ACT controller it works fine in Sonar. There is a big difference between the two. You may get it to work as a CS but you would be far better off getting a proper CS for that duty. One way is to use the generic control surface under the controllers dialog. You will need to set that up for it and I think unless you have the time and inclination I wouldn't bother. Some have here and posted a way to do it. Do a search here on the Keystation Pro 88 or KS Pro 88 or M-Audio KS Pro 88 to find lots of threads on it. Its great MIDI controller.

Is there a preset for the Keystation that I have to set to allow it to transmit data other than the keyboard ie. dials, faders, buttons? I haven't been able to get any of them to work.

Winip, Brando's post up top already explains in detail what you want to do.

That thread is too old because now there is an ACT preset for it. No need to do anything in that thread. All that needs to be done is stated in my posts. It works as stated. I know because I have an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and I have tried it.

Is there any Controller Preset that is available somewhere for download. Hi winip: I put together a preset some time ago. You can get the download from the first post in this thread and give it a try: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1447430

John, You say there is an ACT preset in Sonar 8.5 for the Keystation Pro 88? If so, does it utilize all the knobs faders and buttons? This would be great. I have a Keystation Pro 88, but couldn't get into ACT because I run out of controls in Sonar 8.0
I have authentic analog drum machine samples.

DayDrumFour: The link I gave above is to a thread that I have a download link to for setup files for the KS Pro 88 with all buttons and sliders, except the Master volume, being used for the controller. You can check out the setup files to see if they work for you.
