MC 4 was originally made during the XP days leading into Vista. It should run fine on Win7 but i would suggest running it in XP compatibility mode IF you have any problems.

the definitive way is to install it and see. I would say no, it will not run. I have not tried to install it on my W7 machine so I don't know. As Robo suggests, it will only run in 32 bit mode if it runs at all. They came out with MC5 to specifically run on W7. But even that is 32 bit mode. From the MC5 spec page. System Requirements Minimum Recommended Operating System Windows XP (32-bit) / Vista (32-bit) / Windows 7 (32-bit)

TAP... if you're referring to the OP question.... no it probably (99% chance against) will not run properly on W7..... that's one reason they came out with MC5. BUT... in the face of a lack of evidence.... load it up. The worst that happens is it won't run, and you have to remove it. Either way.... will someone give a definitive answer to this..... does MC4 run on W7 or not?

Just to see if my new Win 7 64-bit computer will run SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, I loaded it up yesterday and it ran beautifully. I loaded it as a 32-bit app even though I had the 64-bit option. All the synths and effects I used worked. I think SHS 6 and MC are about the same vintage, so I say load it up and go!

Well it loaded ok, but I am having problems getting sound out with the stock sound card. I can't seem to configure it to yield sound. I'll have to try my usb card to see if it works. I'll probably invest in a new sound interface for my home studio and use my usb card for my laptop. Thanks for the info, Greg! Herb I'll report back as to my success when I get the chance to try it out.

Yes, I had that problem initially with the onboard RealTek. Changed to MME and clicked the 'Use Anyway' button several times and it worked. I didn't worry about latency since I don't have a way to connect my MIDI keyboard to the new computer (no MIDI-to-USB converter). I just used the mouse in the Staff view.

Thanks Greg, I totally forgot about that. I haven't used MME in so long, I forgot about that! I just confirmed that it now appears to be working! If I start to see any Win 7 "Gotcha's" I'll be sure to report them here. So yes folks, MC4 seems to work fine in Windows 7 running 32bit.

use WASAPI driver mode if it is a choice. it's not a choice in all instances but if it's available it will be much better than MME. also, if WASAPI is not available, ASIO4ALL will help with realteks.

Well, that answers that question... it should work just fine..... and using the wasabi sauce driver makes it even tastier.

I'm planning on upgrading my DAW soundcard and will be using my usb card with the Laptop, so no wasabi will be necessary. Thanks for the inputs, though.
