MC5 and EZDrummer on Windows 7 64-bit ?

The only other thread I've seen on this combination was over on the Sonar 8.5 forum and have not seen a resolution on there either as far as using EZD without the jbridge utility.  Backing up a bit, is anybody here using MC5 on Win 7 64-bit, and EZ Drummer in its 64-bit updated version?  (ver 1.2.1.1)?

I can describe in a bit of detail what I'm seeing during tests so far, but first I'll mention the system I'm using:
Acer Aspire notebook with Win 7 64-bit, external USB sound with Edirol UA-4FX with its 64-bit driver; MC5.0.5. with its update for Win 7 support, and EZ Drummer in its latest upgraded version.

I have bought the jbridge utility and downloaded it, but there was no instructions at all on HOW to load it or use it, so anyone who is that far, let me know please?   I was more interested in trying to NOT have to use it, instead using the 64-bit update on EZD.

Now, what I'm seeing so far is:
MC5 loads up fine, works fine, except that whether I drag and drop a MIDI EZD or another synth instrument, it drops OK, the playback is great, but I'm unable to edit that MIDI data when I dbl-click on the groove clip (it just never opens the editor), or when I try to select it and go to Loop mode (Ctl-L), it won't allow any expansion of the groove at all.  Not sure if this is some MC5 limitation under x64, or that none of the plug-ins are functioning properly.  Anybody got any ideas or seeing anything similar?   I'm running MC5 as Administrator, under Win XP Pro SP3 compatilibty mode.    Thanks for any tips!

I haven't gotten that far in my win7 setup yet.  in fact I have to find my MC5 disk - it's not in its box!

I haven't installed my toontrack stuff yet either, tho.

Reese:  ya know, if I was in your position at the moment I'd hold back a bit!   LOL    While I don't think I have a choice since my notebook CAME with Win7 64-bit (so I can back off to 32-bit), it remains to be seen if MC5 is going to survive the upheaval!   I'm actually trying a re-install of the MC5 patches/updates now to see if that's the problem -

I know what I need to do when I go to Sonar x64, however I don't want to install Sonar 8.5 x64 if I'm not 100% stable with every single application underneath it, know what I mean?  It can only lead to trouble later on with much time lost trying to debug it all - so, I'm going painstakingly slow and tedious, one small install at a time, until I see if it's all stable and working properly.

The hard part about these installs so far, is that they all SEEM to go perfectly fine.  There are no errors during install regarding 64-bit, and the MC5 application loads fine.  The VST scanning goes A-OK and all my installed plug-ins ARE there and are acessible just fine, right up to the newest two Steinway and World, loaded just yesterday.  (and oh they SOUND gorgeous too!)  It's only when you actually create a new project and try to DO certain functions, that things are suddenly not right.  Hopefully there are a lot of others out here who have been here and past this x64 point, but I've only seen threads with Sonar and not yet in MC5.  But whatever I can learn about this combination, I'll pass on gladly!

Well, I'm happy to report that a complete reinstall of MC5.0.5 did the trick, and I have just created a test project that utilized the new SoundCenter with a track of SI Drummer, then laid in some Grand Piano with the Steinway plug-in, then muted SI Drummer track and added EZ Drummer.

In all cases, I used MIDI clips via Drag-n-Drop, then tested editing MIDI by dbl-clk on it and it opened up fine for edit; then went back and entered groove-clip looping mode fine.  All worked as it should, output was all good on all tracks.  One thing I noted was  that when I insert a softsynth in MC5 and I open SoundCenter, I am not able to set MIDI and first Audio separately.   (I can, but then it doesn't edit properly, as I noted above).  I have to choose the Single Track Instrument option, in order for everything to work properly.  Once I have that MIDI data assigned and edited though, I am able to Bounce to Audio track just fine.

So, I am NOT using jbridge, and I am fully functioning in MC5 on a Win 7 64-bit system, running MC5 in compatiblity mode and with EZD in its own 64-bit update version.  I hope this helps more of you to breath a little easier.  Yep, it CAN be done.... I don't suppose it's unexpected that a reinstall was needed given the back and forth I had did of so many drivers, settings, and newly installed plug-ins along the way.  I still don't even know how it's going to go with Sonar 8.5 in x64, as that's coming up soon, but I feel that so far the setup is going well.   Whew! ......
