MC5 and X-Gear

Has anyone figured out how to get X-Gear into MC5?  I installed and registered XGear (What a production that is!).  It now is a good stand-alone but I can't get MC5 to recognize it as a plug-in.  Any ideas??

it should work after you've registered it.  what doesn't work about it?  can you not find it in the list of plugins?  does it not load?  are you trying to use the standalone version in MC (which you can't do)?

Just figured out the problem.  The MC5 installation DVD, when it installs Amplitube XGear, defaults to

    C:\Program Files\FASoft\n-Track Studio 5\Vstplugins.  Works fine

That's the directory to add in to add the X Gear VST

Thanks for your help.  See my posting.  It seesm that the installation DVD, when installing Amplitube XGear, defaults to this dir:

    C:\Program Files\FASoft\n-Track Studio 5\Vstplugins

So, if you followed this default, you must add this directory for VST scanning.

hmmm...it shouldn't DEFAULT there, but as long as you figured out where it was and to add it to the scan list, then you solved the problem.

do you own n-track full version or demo?

Just what came with the MC5  DVD.  I haven't paid more.  It is a mystery to me that the install defaulted to that directory too.  But it now works.

When i had N-Tracks installed it seemed to grab incomeing VSTi stuff and ask if I wanted it there, SO i just let it and used that folder for other programs as well. No biggie as long as MC5 can see that folder all is well.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

MC5 has submenu to search for plugins.  If you have "Track Studio' or "Steinberg" or other makers plugins VST's use the SCAN FOR VST Plug-ins.  These are usually in their own folder outside of MC5.

Go to > Tools > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager > at lower part of dialogue hit the "SCAN FOR VST Plug-ins" radio button.

To check is this takes hold, Go to > Options > Global > and hit the VST Plug-ins tab to view what has been loaded.

Don't try to cut and paste across folders.  If above does not work use the add button and navigate to "Maker" (as above) > VST Plug-ins Folder (only) > OK.

    Hope this helps - Kevin
