MC5 newbie, Really need chords sounds and piano, string chord sounds, Key changes????
Just got MC5 and started getting somewhat familiar with it, (the book sucks!!!) I can get the drums sound but cant get guitar sounds, for certain keys, and piano or string sounds. I also need bass sounds. How do get the full chord sounds on the piano and the strings without doing the whole chord step at a time.

I don't think you can. There may be some sort of 'harmony' effect, but I'll have to look and see in my programs.

Nope. Looks like you'll have to do it yourself; but, my latest program is about 4 years old, so maybe someone who has MC 5 will check in later with an answer regarding that program. Do you play an instrument? What do you mean by "can't get guitar sounds, for certain keys, and piano and string sounds"? And bass sounds. You just change the patch in the MIDI track pane to whatever sound you want. Use a different MIDI channel for each track, too.

In MC5, 4, 3, 2, 1, or what ever to get chord sounds, you need to either play a chord on a midi keyboard, or guitar, or use midi loops or clips, or write them in on the piano roll or staff screen.

It's not that hard to write down a chord from scratch in MIDI whether it is arpeggiated or strummed, or blocked out. The Piano Roll view is very good at making the process very easy. The advantage of writing it out yourself is that you can have much more control over the chord by easily inverting individual chords, changing the length of individual notes, more complete control over the arpeggiation of the chord and by adjusting the velocities to give it a more organic sound.

You need to either write them in via staff or piano view..... play them in with a midi keyboard as many of us here do..... or buy Band in a Box as Beagle suggested. Personally, I find BB to be a perfect scratchpad for composition and writing...I also play stuff in and use the staff view to edit the midi notes.... BB will create the tracks for you where as MC is a recording studio that allows YOU to create the tracks.
