MC5 w/Tascam US-800 Multitrack record

Has anyone set up the US-800 to record multiple tracks in MC5?  I can only seem to get MC5 to recognize 2 inputs at a time.  Going into Options -> Audio ->  choose ASIO.  I then see where I can choose the device, but I can only choose 2 inputs at a time (1/2 or 3/4 or 5/6 or 7/8).

The US-800 came with Cubase LE and it was fairly straight foward to setup (mapped the device inputs to VST connections on multiple busses).  I don't see a similar method in MC5.  I'd rather use MC5, but this is holding me up.  I'm fairly new to all this, so be kind :)

Seems I should be able to get at least 6 tracks mapped to each of the inputs on the US-800, but can only get two at a time.  I wind up with the same input captured on more than one track.
Thanks!

Yep... two inputs is all you get in MC5. It's a "beginner's DAW" so it has limitations. You'll need to upgrade to a full fledged version of Sonar to get the other inputs working.

MC is great for small project studios  but not if you are looking to record more than 2 inputs hot at a time.

actually I think they're still selling Sonar Home Studio 7 and that will allow multiple inputs as well.

but herb's right - MC is limited to two.

Well, there you go :)  Thanks for the quick response.  was wondering if that was the case, but they don't exactly highlight the limitations on the box.

Guess I'll be using the freebie Cubase for a while.  Wanting to record our band from the subgroup outs on our mixer, so was hoping to get at least 4 simultaneous.  I like the interface of MC5 better, but that may be because I've been fiddling with it longer.

    Thanks again!

You can still use it for any editing and mixing you want to do or adding effects, etc., just record the band in Cubase then import the waves into MC.
