MC6T - VERY HAPPY WITH UPGRADE FROM MC6 :D (mini review)

Lots of improvements, I almost think this should be called Music Creator 6.5. Couple of X2 type extras in this one I wasn't expecting. Seems to be better on resources. I was having problems after updating my Kontakt to 5 (from 3), and other performance issues in MC6 and they seem to be all fixed up in this version so real happy with it so far.

Clickable automation "buttons" (guessing also X2 stuff as every version of CMC is always a scaled down version of the latest Sonar build). The annoying docking issues I was having seem to be fixed, can just use windows (wonder if to throw the mix window in a dif monitor perhaps). TH2 is now available. Well worth the (currently $6 for upgrade/$35 for full) deal.

"Take Lanes" and "Automation Lanes" -very Pro Tools like. I took a class in PT7 and worked in 8 for a few years and had some good stuff. I still prefer their mix window because you can see more inserts and change the colors (I've tried in Music Creator and they always stay grey...haven't tried in the Touch version yet).

In TH2 Creator, you get the Modern, Slo, and 65 Blackface, couple cabs & mics, FX. The Modern amp is really good for riffing. Huge sound.

I'm not sure if I'm just noticing it, but swapping to a different synth after you already created a track with a different one is great. I'm going to throw another Pro Tools idea out here while I'm thinking of it though, being able to swap VSTs from the VST window while it's open. I enjoyed that RTAS swapping in PT. There's very little else I liked about PT though besides the extra room for inserts on the Mix Window and the plugin swapping while the plugin's window was already open.

There's an overall "upgrade" look, not HUGE but definitely different than MC6 (waveforms look better, addons here & there). Still have the "usual limitations" of 24/48, 24 effects plugins, not much else is "limited" in this one though. Excellent purchase.

***UPDATE: just realized with the FX Chain (right click on track and load an FX Chain preset), you can sort of "override" the 24 plugin limit (very helpful when you have multiple guitar rigs going particularly if you use a tubescreamer plugin, amp, power amp plugin, cabinet impulse loader, EQ, etc...24 isn't nearly enough for a proper mix IMHO) AND there's a cool "Metal Guitar" preset with a compessor and EQ (TH2 in the middle). Very good stuff.
