MELODYNE Education

Hi Bandsters...... ;)
For those .......Like Me ........who are on this blessed 'Space Time Continuum' learning curve thingy....... AND trying to absorb the
multitude of software and Google accessed music mixing advice............I forward a pleasant link......( A Powerful Movie really)........... which inspired me in many ways in regard to Melodyne.
I will not 'Wax Away' ............Just 'Do Yourself A Favour'.....sit down ......with a glass of your favourite 'Chardy' and absorb 'STEPHAN LINDLAHR's Dec 2017 Presentation..............he is a true genius !!........but from the Germans..............can we expect any less? :)

Cheers......Frank

Good link! As a Melodyne user for more than a decade, I didn't expect to learn anything new. But I did - I've never used the "separate notes" shortcuts, always split blobs by hand. Gotta try that now. For that matter, I generally don't use keyboard shortcuts (except CTL-Z!).

Best part of that presentation is the message about "perfection versus passion". The real trick with pitch editing is knowing what not to touch.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks bitflipper.
It was riddled with 'Inside Knowledge'  GEMS hey :)
I am so jealous of those who get to actually, physically attend a NAMM or IMSTA FESTA.
Maybe one day hey ;)
Hence............ I am so thankful for the internet substitute.

Notwithstanding,
This is the calibre of video in which it would be advantageous to be able  to simply embed it into a post on any future (ie: Bandlab initiated) forum system.
So ,
Moving on  ....  I hope we can indeed introduce video embedding and ensure our future, fledgling forum relates to the 21st Century expectations in this regard.
Many Cheers......Frank

That was very useful, thanks Frank.

Definitely a few note separation gems that I will use a lot.

Great link - thanks. I didn't know about the pointlessness of retuning an "s" for example, but it makes sense.

Watching video seems a lot like reading the manual, but watching wastes more time.

Fair comment, esp on one level.....&  indeed.....thanks for your input......

In my REAL job..........I work with those of us who may not have (MAX dB) Reading , Writing and Social Skills.
Music can be.... not just enjoyable......BUT Paramount in the stability of many people's lives.
However,
.....Having said that ...........Let me say this.................My experience insofar as the creative skills of those less fortunate than most of us, is that they more than often... well and truly surpass those of us blessed with such skills as READING......a gift which we take so often for granted.
Without wishing to sound like I'm slapping you in the face with a limp Salmon............And Truly I'm Not........ This particular video was actually amazingly helpful to at least 3 Lads and a Teenage Girl who struggle with normative learning practices. Like I, They are big Sonar Fans.
Best Regards...................Frank In OZ

STEPHAN has immense 'Inside Knowledge' (if you like) that perhaps can't be easily conveyed in a text manual. To see him operate with such fluidity is to feel confident that someday you might get to (or near) His level of 'COMFORTABILTY' in the use of Melodyne.

ALSO ......
and this is definitely the most important factor............For a German ( and I do have a Deutsche Heritage) .........he has a wonderfully developed ,Anglo/Saxon sense of humour .........for a German :)
Extremely important in explaining things to Poms,Yanks,Aussies,Kiwis,Canadians and Tasmanians.... ( Just Kidding Tasmania )
Cheers........Frank
