MIDI "Ahead" project tempo?

I think this is a 'reverse' recording alignment problem. Last night we were tracking some Dimension Pro and Garritan Personal Orchestra tracks and I began to notice they seemed Ahead of the project tempo between 32 and 48 ticks (were are at 960 PPQ) - this seemed pretty consistent - I had to push the recorded MIDI tracks back by about that much - I am not sure this was performance related or not? The path was

Ensoniq SD-1 used as a controller to MIDI on my Yamaha O1X - zero latency - DimPro or GPO as the sound source.

Easy to fix but weird
