MIDI CC not following PRV snap settings

It's very rare for me to draw controller data in the PRV so haven't noticed this before, I'm guessing someone else has already reported it but I've put a bug report in anyway.

CWBRN 6660  Midi CC data not following PRV snap to values

  1. Set TV snap to value to measure
  2. Set PRV snap value to 64thIn a PRV controller lane
  3. Draw some controller data

Expected

The controller data will be drawn at each PRV snap interval

Actual

The controller data is drawn at the TV snap interval

Anyone else confirm that? Thanks.

Do you ever wonder why some of us have uninstalled X1?

That's what I did after seeing how the PRV snap was kludged into the only version of SONAR that ever came with botched up snap settings.

I just don't have the patience for encountering things like this anymore.

My guess is that with 1300+ hours logged on SONAR X1, that you probably know more about what doesn't work in SONAR X1 than just about anyone on the planet.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a CWBRN. That is the only way Cakewalk is going to get a handle on quality control.

Did you use the built in auto dial problem reporter system? That seems like a real time saver.

    all the best,
    mike

    Thanks guys,

We have a few confirmed reports of this. For what it's worth, drawing CC values in the PRV should still follow the Global Snap Setting. It just seems to not take PRV Specific Snap into account. Annoying but can be worked around.

@ FastBikerBoy, I'll push your report through.

@ mike_mccue, the Fault Reporter comes up for crashes only. The form still needs to be accessed from http://www.cakewalk.com/s...act/problemreport.aspx

Phone home feature only applies to crashes. X1e must be pretty stable given how few users have mentioned it on the forum.

Controller snap resolution problem confirmed. It seems the drum pane and controllers panes are separate from the main PRV pane under the hood, and have to be explicitly coded to follow the PRV snap setting.

No not the auto system, my DAWs not connected to the internet, besides which as I understand it, it's for crash/freeze situations rather than common or garden bugs.

It's an unusual way for me to work so haven't see that one before. Might even be specific to me, I don't know.

I know you think I'm some sort of X1 apologist (which I'm not) I report bugs as I find them, but as I've said repeatedly I'm very adaptable, I've simply changed the main snap while I was doing the cc drawing.

For me, the workflow enhancements still far outweigh the inconvenience of the bugs. I continue to report them as I find them as I always have. X1 does require a completely fresh approach which I understand is not welcome for those that were extremely comfortable with previous versions. Those that can't take that fresh open minded approach are ultimately not going to 'get' X1, and presumably move on to something that suits them better, or stay on an earlier version.

I however was never entirely 'at home' with previous versions. I've always got them to work the best I could for me. I just find it far easier to get more out of X1 than any previous version, mainly due to all the new options available to use. If that makes me a fanboi so be it, I see myself as a fairly satisfied customer.

Yes it could be better, yes there's room for improvement but it's a massive step in the right direction - IMHO of course.

Of course I already know YMMV.

Xpanded has been stable for me with regard to it not crashing.  But the more I continue to use X1-E the more bugs I keep running into.  Some are terribly annoying and some are an inch away from being show stoppers.

But it is not crashing.  If that's some consolation? lol

Hi Billy, I know you are relatively stable now, as you know it's been stable for me since release. Despite what you'd think considering all the hoo-ha on the forum in the early days I think my personal 'annoying' bug count has gone up since X1c, I've even considered rolling back to b.

No show stoppers but more annoyances than I personally had in X1a. I think most of them now revolve around the PRV in one form or another so were introduced when the separate snap settings were bought back. Oh well........ onwards and sideways, or something like that

I honestly do have a concern that CW is somehow getting really sloppy about testing and QA, as I keep saying here on the forum.   The problem with that it that the users keep paying for these sloppy efforts with very little recourse other than to report the bugs and wait it out for fixes (if they ever come).

But I think CW has to do a better job.  I would have been fired many times over had I operated my companies this way.

At least I can report that Google's Chrome (latest version for PC) works ok on this forum LOL.
