MIDI Clock send only when playing?

Sonar is the only sequencer I have which plays the MIDI clock continuously while it is running.  This is good for somethings, but for certain things, namely my Oberkorn mkIII, it means that it will continuously run and there is no way to ensure sync.

Is there a way to switch Sonar Producer X1's behavior so that it only sends clock when the sequencer is playing or recording?

    Think what you want is to send stop/start/continue and song position pointer information. I think cakewalk may have changed where you set these options but in Sonar 7 they are located under Options/Project/Sync tab. If you can't find where to set these options check Sonar help (f1) for midi sync.

    It's in Preferences->Project->MIDI.

    There you can set up the options how you want them, devices the clock is sent to etc.

    I have a key binding for turning MIDI sync on & off, you may find that useful if you turn it on & off frequently
