MIDI Communication

Ok. Im Brand new to this. I've followed instuctions the best I could. Can some one PLEASE explain to me; how to get my mpc 2000 to play when I hit play in Music Creator 24. When I click play, it starts my sequence in the mpc but stops immediatly. What's the deal? Explain it to me like I'm a 6yr old.

    Music Creator to control MPC not able is. [Yoda is as close as I come to six-year-olds these days.]

    Music Creator not able to control any external device. :-(
