MIDI Driving Me Crazy

Lately, the midi in Sonar has been driving me crazy. From sounds from VSTs becoming inaudible after stopping the transport, notes being doubled while recording and now..... (This is where I need some help and I know is an easy fix but I'm just brain dead right now after hours of troubleshooting).

I'm recording on a track with a VST but when recording it also records midi from another track. I've been trying to resolve this for the past 3 hours! Please help!

Check for
  • the recording instrument/MIDI track input set to All Inputs > MIDI Omni (instead of a specific controller) and
  • "Enable MIDI Output" checked on a plug-in (likely a synth) on another track. It may be turned off in the VST2/3 drop down in the plug-in standard header.

This may be caused by enabling the per-project setting Zero Controllers When Play Stops.
