soens

And often when people offer solutions or workarounds, you dismiss them as not being what you want, thus causing those people to feel they've wasted their time - which they have.

No matter how the OP responds to any help given, it is never wasted. This is a public forum. Threads are read by tens or hundreds of users. Someone out there is being helped by those comments even if the OP rejects them.

The important thing to remember is never take comments personal or engage in an argument over them. That's really where time is wasted as one rarely gets anywhere doing it. And it's counter intuitive to helping the issue.

what help?   I am being given workarounds which I have to remember EVERY time I insert a new track otherwise I could have more data loss again.

Of course I appreciate the workaround suggestions!   That is silly to suggest I don't.  I just don't find them reasonable.

Not sure why the personal problem with me is really.  I am simply not satisfied with the lack of concern Cakewalk has given to their MIDI product.

Why the hate?

It's not hate, it's frustration. As I said in the other thread, I can see only four options. There is no fifth option that Cakewalk will immediately fix everything, or even a portion, of what you want changed.

The "problem" I have isn't with you. For all I know you're a cool guy who cooks meals for the homeless during the holidays, makes fabulous music, and adopts shelter pets. The problem is doubling down on a belief that complaining will cause changes. You are one of at least tens of thousands of users, who all have things they'd like to see added to SONAR, or improved upon. All you can do is go through channels and hope that a) enough other people agree that what you want is truly important, b) that there is the ability to do it, c) there are resources to act on that ability, and d) it becomes prioritized.

You also need to make a choice: Whether you want the developers to spend their time fixing bugs, or participating in what is intended to be a peer-to-peer forum and perusing every thread to see if there's anything they don't know already. They can't do both, and almost every legitimate bug you've pointed out has already been logged. If you haven't logged it and can't reproduce it, they you can't expect anything to be done about it.

A peer-to-peer forum is NOT the primary way or even the secondary way to interact with the Bakers. Only a few devs stop by, and even then, only on occasion. I don't think there's "hate" for you, only frustration that for whatever reason, you can't seem to accept that basic reality.

The solution is simple. Try out other DAWs, find happiness with your tools (if that's possible), and make music. Many people realize it's unrealistic to expect one program to do it all, and have discovered that the way to musical satisfaction is to learn more than one program.

I'm one of those that find the current implementation very annoying!

I want selected midi channels to (automatically) echo; preferably from omni input sources so that I can play with synth sounds on different channels (and then by manually selecting input and switching on echo -> layer those sounds)
Then at the same time I want to be able "mute" certain synth channels and by mute I don't necessarily mean silence them, but mean for them to not receive input mainly because I do not want any parameters of the synths to be changed once I have found desired settings. With auto-echo this is not possible / without auto-echo the above is not possible :(

The crux being that I am sometimes auditioning from my stage keyboard and sometimes from my desktop mini keyboard/software keyboard. This means switching inputs on the midi channels every time I change channel............
