MIDI Key Bindings Not Working

Using HS4XL, I am trying to just create a basic MIDI Key Binding to control the Play Button in the Transport Bar with my keyboard, and another to open a file up, but I can't get either to work. I have enabled MIDI Bindings, and have set up a "Shift" Button, but nothing is working. I have also successfully set up regular PC key bindings.

any ideas?

Under the "Shift" option choose the sustain pedal (it's just more convenient). I'm not sure what the default was but "middle C" on my configuration is C4. Choose a MIDI key and bind it to the "File:Open" command. Be sure to check the Enabled box under MIDI keys. Close the keybinding window. Hold down the sustain pedal and press the bound MIDI key on any connected MIDI keyboard and the File Open dialog should appear. The dropdown box allows you to set the context for key bindings "Global" (the default) works at any time. You can narrow the context to specific task areas (like piano roll view) so that the same keybinding can perform different actions in different situations.

OK I've done all of that and it's still not working. Could it be B/C I'm using a USB (US-122) interface?

No, I don't see how your MIDI interface can have any effect on the keybinding function. As long as you can record MIDI into HS from your keyboard -- then the communication you need is present. Are you sure that you are pressing the assigned key on your keyboard? Like I said, my "middle C" is C4 - because under "Options .. Global.. Base Octave for Pitches.." I have set -1.

Yeah, I've tried every combination of Sustain Pedal and C notes. I also tried assigning the shift note to the Db directly above the C4, and tried every combination up & down the keyboard, but nothing was working. It doesn't make any sense to me either, seeing that I can record MIDI notes, but not bind controls to them.

Well I finally got them to work. I came across a forum that suggested to disable Tooltips. After that...worked like a charm!

I suggest you start a new thread, and describe exactly what you're doing, so as not to confuse everyone reading this decade-old one (!).
