MIDI Newb looking for help with Kontakt/Sonar config

Looking for some help... First time trying to get Midi working via a Focusrite 2i4, which is hooked via USB to my computer.

I'm trying to trigger a Realitone Fingerpick plug-in as a Kontakt Player instrument. I can trigger Fingerpick in Kontakt Player stand-alone mode (was troubleshooting to remove signal-chain variables, so I know the midi keyboard is triggering the Kontakt Player instrument via the 2i4 interface.

Here's what I do in Sonar Professional:
1. Insert simple instrument instrument track
2. Select the Kontakt Player 5
3. Instantiate the plug-in inside the Player 5. I can see the Player GUI and all looks normal.
4. For track input I select Focusrite 2i4 USB: OMNI (have tried other channels, no luck)
5. Track output is going to the Master bus

There is no signal response at all. In Kontakt stand-alone mode, I can see the keys move and hear the sounds play in the GUI. But I get nothing when loaded in Sonar. No meters moving in the track, no response from the Kontakt Player at all. First time with Kontakt. Is there a routing I need to do in the Kontakt Player? The MIDI channel there is set to omni.

I would appreciate any ideas! I've got three Kontakt instruments I'm eager to try!

Did you get this problem sorted out? I am having similar problems. When I load Kontakt 5 free version into Sonar one time two instances are always showing up. I suspect although I could be wrong that one of those instances might be the Standalone version showing up along with the VST version. Why is a Standalone version opening up along with the VST version. Absolutely no idea!! Furthermore the metres on the Sonar track I have loaded Kontakt into are not showing any activity. However I can hear sound but once again and I could be wrong I suspect I am hearing sound from the second standalone version. I have never come across a situation before using a VST instrument whereby you load one instance in and two show up. Basically I just using the free version of Kontakt 5 to try and play Orange Tree Samples Evolution Dracus Library. I can get the Library into Kontakt but I cant get it to register on the appropriate Sonar track. Its totally confusing.

I have to ask a silly question ... did you enable input echo on the track?

I've never used a Simple Track, but if you can try it with separate Audio/MIDI tracks, this should work:
In the Browser View, add a Synth (Kontakt 5).
Choose the options to create 1 Audio Out and 1 MIDI Track (i'm not at my DAW right now to tell you the proper wording, but those are the tracks you want).
Make sure that the MIDI Track In shows the 2i4USB, the MIDI Out shows the Kontakt 5, and that you're using MIDI Channel 1.
Make sure that the Audio Track In shows the proper Mixer Out in Kontakt 5.
In Kontakt, add the instrument you want, make sure that it is using Channel 1 for input and that it has a dedicated line out in the Kontakt Mixer.
And yes, like PeteL says, make sure that Input Echo is working on both MIDI and Audio (i'm not sure which is needed, use both to be safe).

Does that work for you?

Its not a silly question. I didn't take that into consideration at all but it seems I should of. I will be doing that along with the other advice. Thank you.
