MIDI Output Default

Hey Crew,

I recently started using Sonar X2 after using Sonar 8 for many years.
When I was using Sonar 8, I would set up my synth as one single track by clicking "insert soft synth" in the insert panel.
This would give me a stand alone track (in the mixer view) that controlled the input and output of the synth.

I had this working in Sonar X2 when I first installed it however after pressing a few too many buttons it stopped working.
After some playing around I found a solution, insert the synth along side a "MIDI track" and "First Synth Output".
This works, however it is inconvenient and messy having 2 tracks setup for a single instrument.

My question is, does anyone know how to undo what I have done?

Cheers,

Tom

If I understand your post correctly, you used to have a Simple Instrument Track, which combined midi and audio.  The check boxes in the Insert Soft Synth dialog box support having it generate a Simple Instrument Track (also called a SIT).

I would refer you to a thread that is currently speaking on whether or not to use Simple Instrument Tracks.

Here is the link to that thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Instrument-track-vs-separate-MIDI-Audio-tracks-m2858984.aspx

There are some considerations discussed in that thread that you might find beneficial to read through.

    Hey Bob,

Thanks heaps for the link, it answered my question and more!

Also, is there a split key in the new Sonar? I know you can do it with the mouse but I find it more convenient to find the spot then click split.
