MIDI Track Tempo Setting

HELP !!!  We've recorded live tracks and i've just added midi keyboard overdubs....now adding some additional drum sequences to tart up the final cuts but when we go to alter the drum track tempo to fit the live track.....it also alters the midi tracks that I have recorded which are in time with the live trax..so how do we isolate a midi track in order to alter its tempo......?  Any Genius's know how to do....the "Fit to & Quantize are **** ...an not worth considering....we use the freehand tool to sync up the drums and its a dawddle...only thing is...we want to keep the midi keyboard part...tried locking that track ...but guess wot..it doesn't protect the tempo setting !!!!   DOH....who designed the functions !!!  Appreciate any and all ideas ..cheers Frazzel

What I do is I highlight the only midi clip I want to edit timing on and quantize. It should quantize only that track. If that does not work, my workaround would be to copy the drum track to another project and edit it there and bring it back, but that is just a workaround..

You should bounce (or freeze) your existing MIDI tracks down to audio (not the drums) then use Fit Improvisation to tighten the drums up.

Quantize won't work because that will just fit the midi to the grid and in your case it's the grid that's wrong

You're asking a lot. You can't expect to take a recording that is not recorded to a click track and then match it up to a MIDI track. You need a tool like Drumagog if that's what you want to do for the drums. You should also use audiosnap to quantize the audio tracks.

If you record anything that will involve locking to a tempo you need to START with that tempo or tempo map... from the beginning of the recording process.
Anything you try do do after the fact will result in wasting hours and hours to fix and possibly end up out of wack.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with biting the bullet and re recording your live parts again to a metronome or better yet, the drum loops in question. In my opinion you will save going prematurely bald and have a better recording as a result.

It's no use posting this on several forums, it's mainly us same guys and gals on both :o/
There's nothing wrong with the functions. You are just wishing for functions that are not doable, because you're not aware of the principles the software has to obey.
