MIDI and SONAR 8 Producer

First i didnt get any signal from the MIDI keyboard but then i figured out my friend switched the midi cables so i started getting signal again and it started working with ALL the programs i had in soft synths. In the middle of rapture it just stopped. I didnt change any setting or anything. It just stopped. Im not getting signal anymore. As in when im pushing the keys on the keyboard the volume bars arent jumping. Once again i did not change any settings. Now i will tell you the settings.

That is all that i can think of that deals with MIDI. Anyone know whats wrong?
Im not getting sound or signal now and there both connected correctly and turned on.

Is FP10 an audio card? Is it firewire? Did you check in Options MIDI devices that its still there? Did you restart Sonar? Did you reboot? Is it working in other apps?

FP10 is my preamp. Its a PreSonus FP10 preamp or some know it as a Firepod.. Thats where i have the MIDI hooked up. Yes i restared my computer. I restarted SONAR. Sometimes it will work as in i'll get signal and then it will stop suddenly. Just a few minutes ago i restarted SONAR and it was working so i deleted track 4 that automatically pops up and it stopped working. So i clicked edit > undo and it still didnt work.

    FP10 is my preamp

its a sound card with preamps. not jst a preamp. do you have A TI FW chipset??? You need to have that for most presonus sound cards. They use the terrible Dice II Chipset. I had a presonus and got rid of it. Replaced it with a Motu and you would not even beleive the difference in performce i got on my pc.
If your getting dropouts, i would raise your buffers/latency and try a different driver mode also. ASIO or WDM

What Vista 32 bit or 64 bit? The one thing I wonder about is the MMCSS. I would try to see if you disable it in Sonar if that helps. BTW just for my own way of thinking about this I wouldn't say its a preamp. Its a firewire audio interface. Yes it has pres but that is not all it has. Technically a sound blaster would qualify using the notion that if it has pres its a preamp.

The stopping is worrisome. It should either work or not but stopping is a problem that could be caused by almost anything. I suspect its a driver issue. If you have another MIDI interface and your audio is fine try that.

Did you try resetting MIDI and enabling the audio engine?

You'll find two little buttons on the on the floating transport palette (press numberpad Enter to toggle in and out).

The MIDI reset button looks like: [!].

The Audio Engine button looks like a windshield wiper, and is green when enabled.

I got it working for the longest time, but it froze in beat scape. i mean i could navigate around the program but the MIDI part wouldnt work. I would open up beatscape and the volume is in the halfway sot when im not playing anything. Any tips on how to stop freezing? I think it did that on rapture to because the volume just stayed in one spot.
