MIDI data being randomly dropped during playback when using MOTU MIDI Express XT

I recently added a MOTU MIDI Express XT to my system (replacing a Delta 1010). When I playback Midi tracks on my SONAR X3 Platinum software random notes will drop out e.g. I use three Midi tracks for drums on for Kick & Snare, one for cymbals, and one for tom fills as it makes editing easier for me. Some examples of what's happening; Let's say I start the song from the beginning and at measure 14 the ride cymbal stop playing but at measure 15 it jumps back in. If I stop, then start from measure 13 it will play all data but I may have another drop out at measure 21. Another phenomena is, if I have a ride cymbal doing straight eighth notes sometimes it will skip a few or just play quarter notes. Again if I stop and start a few measures before the drop out happened it will play fine. There have also been occurrences of all three drum tracks dropping out and suddenly coming back all at once. I have tried, so far, altering the buffer size in Preferences MIDI record/playback but it really doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions on where else to look for a solution? Thanks!!

Thanks for getting back to me!
The output of the MIDI track in SONAR is set to 3-Port 3 on MXPXT MOTU. My DR-880 drum machine is connected to that output.
The input is set to MIDI CH 10 in SONAR

I think if you increase Playback buffers here:

That should get it sorted. If default is 250 try 500. "lather, rinse, repeat"
Its a little bit "cut and try" IIRC.

    Thank you for replying Tom!
That is the menu I have been adjusting values in. I went as high as 500 and as low as 150. Maybe I should go to higher values, as I see in your screen shot you are at 750.
    Thanks again very much!
