MIDI effects for X1 LE

Can one use the VST MIDI effects like quantize from old Sonar in X1 LE? I have no luck making it to function.
What alternative is there?   Does Cakewalk make the basic MIDI effects like old VST quantize and randomize in free version that function in X1?

quantize is not a VST, it is a process. It's got to be there under process I would think. That's from the begining of time so open the help file and search for it.

Thank you Cactus.  In earlier version of Sonar LE had same ability but as real time MIDI plugin also.  It was made by Cakewalk.  Also one for Arpeggiator one for Transpose.  All real time plugin.  When I did upgrade to X1 LE and copied those dll they do not work now.  After research today I found a clue.  Maybe I need to register the dll if they are MFX.  If it is the solution I will post here.

There is still an MFX for transpose which may not be included in X1LE. Starting with the X series, the arpeggiator was integrated into the Inspector so the MFX no longer exists. While not the same as transport, the Key setting was also moved to the Inspector.

Hi scook, if I have the old plugin dll files from the old Sonar LE MIDI plugins and put a dll file in the shared midi plugins folder for X1 and register the dll using regsvr32 and tell Sonar to scan the plugins folder they should show up in X1 LE?  I tried but no success.  Is there any step missing?

it should not even need the VST scan, if it were going to work, the regsvr32 should do it. Maybe, it needs SONAR to be run as administrator. Otherwise the full basic version of X3 is $49. The most feature packed basic version of SONAR in a long time. It does require Vista or newer though.

It worked now and answer is not doing a regular dll register with regsvr32 but using batch file. Take old Sonar MIDI plugin dll and put in the shared midi folder then follow batch file dll registration as administrator instruction of at the other forum and then rescan. Thank you many times to colinjamieson and markleford for sharing the investigation.

Forum does not allow me to make links. For other forum search cakewalk forums for '64 bit MFX and DXi development: Where do I start?' scroll down to colinjamieson first answer on August 25, 13. Read his post to get details but key part is in his words

9 -copy the .dll from the debug or release folder (as the case may be) and stick it in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared MIDI Plugins\
10 -Create a .bat file in the same directory, and put the following line inside of it (replacing MyPlugin.dll with the actual name of your own plugin):
11 -regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared MIDI Plugins\MyPlugin.dll"
12 -Right-click on the .bat file and select "Run as administrator"
13 -Rock and Roll

I remember their discussion. The batch file is not necessary. The problem they were having was automating the process of registration during installation of their newly ported mfx plug-ins. Unless run as administrator, regsvr32 silently fails and the mfx (and dxi) plug-ins do not get registered properly. They resorted to using a batch file to make it easier for the end user. Running a cmd session as administrator while using regsrv32 on the command line also works. Sorry, I should have thought to mention that in the previous post.
