I think all the cake products will send the midi timing and control signals out.
Suffice it to say that Cakewalk products and features and convenience has come a very long way since CWP9.
I used CWP8 and loved what I could do with it.... along with hating a few things about how it worked.
I bought MC4 and a whole new world opened up musically. MC6 is even further along.
I never used any of the cake DAW's to sync external devices. I know you may really like what you have in that old drum machine, but it may be time to have a look at the drum capabilities that are now available to you "in the box" as we say.
The drummer and it's loops make everything so much easier. In addition, you can write and create your own tracks.
When I first came to digital recording, I had a Roland TR-505 (if I remember correctly) and it had a number of drum patterns for songs in it. Problem was it saved to a cassette tape. So I was basically forced to find a better way...and as you know CW9P still did not have that better way.... but MC6 does.
all this to say, have a serious look at what you can do inside the computer (in the box) with MC6. You will like it better.
