MIDI only heard during Playback and Recording

Hi All.... I just installed X1 on my machine.  I have been using Sonar for years, most recently using 8.5 before my upgrade.  I have not installed X1b yet, so I'm not sure if this could correct my problem......

..This is what I'm experiencing...When I open up a file, I can click on any MIDI track and hear the soft synth assigned to the track (no issues).  Once I press play and listen to my project one time and then hit stop, I can no longer hear MIDI sounds unless I am in Playback or Recording mode.  I can see the MIDI signal register in my computer, but I don't hear any sound.  I have never had this issue with Sonar programs in the past.  The weird thing is how it works fine at the beginning until I play my project.  Then it's like the playback does something to my MIDI output.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks

If its a file you downloaded, it may have control codes embedded in the track to change patches and volume. Look at the Event List view and see what's there.

Are you using a midi controller and you can't hear your soft synths play unless you are playing the project or recording?

And you have the input echo enabled on the track you are playing on, yes?

Also, check to see if the audio engine has stopped. If not, you may have captured a bug. Is it reproducible, e.g. every time opening that project? In any case, updating to X1b and adding the quickfix is most likely a prerequisite to getting CW to take your problem report seriously.

Hi guys... thanks for your responses...

I was indeed the audio engine was turning off automatically.  I had to go to preferences and check the "allow audio tail to play..." (something like that..haha) check box.

    Thanks,
