MIDI playback stops and Sonar crashes

Hey Guys,

Recording MIDI works well but playback frequently stops and Sonar immediately crashes.  I'm running the 2017.7 version of Sonar Pro.  Also using Win 8.1, i7, 16GB.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

i7, 16GB Ram, Roland Quad Capture, MOTU MIDI, Event 8 Monitors, Dual Screens, Yamaha Controller, Virtuoso, Proteus 2000, Roland XV3080, Presonus Eureka, Rode NTK, etc. etc.

What synth are you playing it back through?

    Thanks Greg.
I'm playing back through 3 different synths.  Roland XV-3080, Virtuoso 2000 and Sampletank3.  None of them are producing a sound.  The MIDI playback stops after one playing of the song, i.e. when I playback the 2nd time, all MIDI.
I did see a post, yesterday, by Anderton telling about a capability that Win 10 has regarding a new MIDI/USB functionality that Win 8 is missing.  I really want to avoid upgrading to Win 10 because of all the work involved but what do you think?

Well, I hope Anderton replies to your inquiry, since my DAW is almost as ancient as I am (XP 32-bit, 2 GB RAM, SHS 6 XL).
Just trying to get the troubleshooting started by asking questions. That usually starts others asking questions and offering advice and possible solutions.
The first thing I would do is start a new project with no synths, maybe even change driver modes to use the MS GS Wavetable synth () just to see if MIDI works there.
