MIDI stand alone module

I have a son, John Carr, who is taking music in college.
He has a M-Audio keyboard with no sounds built in. (just a controler)
I can make it work fine with SONAR but my sin doesn't have SONAR.
He is just starting learning the keyboard and needs a software MIDI
program so he can get sounds out of the controller.

Thanks a mllion

what's the budget? you can do that with any of the popular stand alone synths/samplers like Kontakt or GPO. or maybe something low key like Bandstand which is a GM sampled module - that's only $99.

You can get the Proteus VX as a free download. Works as a standalone as well as VST.
