MIDI track: sending one note to a different synth?

I've learned from experience to post what I'm trying to achieve, not the steps which aren't working. So here goes.

I've got a song that uses DFH for drums, driven by a single MIDI track. So far so good. It sounds great.

However, I want to replace the snare with something much more electronic and staccato -- I have tried putting effects on DFH's snare output, but it's just not right.

Is there any way I can keep my single MIDI track and somehow send the snare note to a different synth? It's fine if it goes to both DFH *and* another synth, because I can just must the DFH snare return.

I see how I could cut all of the snare notes and paste them into a new MIDI track, but I am really hoping to avoid splitting the track in two, because editing the midi gets a lot more difficult that way.

Ideas?
