MIDI tracks sound different in Sonar 8 and SonarX1

I bought a MIDI file from MIDI Hits.com. I opened it in both Sonar 8 and Sonar X1. In each DAW I mounted a Cakewalk TTS-1 1 software synth. In Sonar 8 all the tracks sounded correct when played. In Sonar X1 the same tracks sounded awful. It was as if they were ignoring all their controller info or something. Has anyone had any similar experiences? If so, did you find a fix?

Thanks,

Al

Are you sure you got the track outputs assigned correctly to the TTS-1 in X1? It sounds like maybe the outputs defaulted to your soundcard's onboard wavetable synth.

I can't think of any scenario that would make X1 sound radically different from 8 given the same setup. But it's a little hard to evaluate the meaning or possible causes of "awful" sound without hearing the difference firsthand.

I'm sure that the outputs have not defaulted to the soundcard's onboard wavetable synth. When I delete the TTS-11 synth there is no sound at all. If I were to make you an .mp3 of each DAW output would that help?

It might. Better yet, isolate an individual track that shows the difference.

I'll PM you an e-mail address, or you can post it to a free music-hosting site like soundclick.com.
