MIDI translator
This question may sound a bit retro, but ... Is anybody using a MIDI translator that works under win7 64 bit? MIDI OX and yoke are old and only 32 bit. What I intend to do is filter out and replace certain blocks of MIDI messages with modified messages before they come into Sonar. Hence, CAL scripts and likes are not an option and some kind of virtual MIDI pipe may be needed ...

I use Midi-Ox under Windows 7 64 bit Pro and it works great. I use it all the time to swap sound banks in and out of my synths.

MIDI OX and yoke are old and only 32 bit. I use MIDI OX with 64 bit, but I seem to remember having to switch from MIDI Yoke to LoopBe30 when I started using a 64 bit OS. Could be your problem is MIDI Yoke. LoopBe30 works great.

Isn't there some sort of event filter mechanism built in to Sonar that might help you do this? I think some folks use this to do transposition, though I use the key+ slider to do that. I think when they use that filter mechanism, it is actually changing the midi note values for what gets recorded, so I think that comes in ahead of things in Sonar, so maybe that is something for you to look at. Just a thought, Bob Bone

Midi OX seems to run fine on a 64-bit OS, but apparently due to some registry entries not being seen by 64-bit apps like a Sonar X2 x64, it wouldn't work. If you could live with running a 32-bit Sonar session, then it seems that this might work fine for you. Certainly worth a try. I just ran a test install and running of Midi Ox, and it installs and runs fine, but I do not have an x32 Sonar installed to test things completely. So, maybe you or someone could give a 32-bit Midi Ox with 32-bit Sonar a try on Win 7/8 x64? Bob Bone

Thanks all for the responses. I'll give LoopBe30 a try but it might be a few days before I actually find the time for this ... I'll keep you all posted if it works out for me as well. Cheers

(you are quite correct on the LoopB30 - I was just aiming for freeware in my suggestion - I should have mentioned that) I LOVED Midi OX when I used to use it for giving me the ability to have output from my mono-timbral Yamaha keyboard a while back to be able to translate the midi channel from its constant '1' to other channels, so that the captured channel was able to be whatever I needed it to be.
