MIDI triggering

This sounds totally logical to me, yet I can't find a way of doing it in Sonar Producer or in the help files or manual - to trigger midi events from audio, for example like a gate, when the dB on an audio track exceeds a set threshold you can e.g. trigger a midi note. Can this be done? Thanks, Jack.

    I'm not sure if this is what you're trying to do.. But here's a clip of how to replace an audio kick drum with midi, wich may be helpful.

    Its called side chaining, if im understanding you correctly. But I dont think it can be used to trigger MIDI. I actually never tried it.
