MOBO for I7-2600k Sandy Bridge?

Hi Folks,
Anyone here running a i7-2600k Daw? if so, what type of mobo (h67/P67) and memory are you using? Any issues so far?

    I have the Asus P6T MB, i7 920 cpu  and one thing about i7 processor is that it does not support all memory speed
    I had the corsair TR3X6g1600C8D ( 1600 Mhz ) and this memories was only trouble so I had to downgrade to 1333 Mhz and now everything is fine. That was my experience with the i7 cpu...I called Intel tech support, that's how I found out so make sure you cover all angles before putting together your own DAW.

    just fo the record.. we have no issues running a 2600 with 1600 ram..
    there are a good number of setting in the bios to change in order to do this for 1366 or 1155..

    there are some boards (1366) that wont do it with all slots filled.

    I just ordered an ASUS P8P67 Pro. I'll post again when I get all set up and give an update on the results. I plan on overclocking. I believe Scott was able to OC to a stable 4.5 for Sonar. Please correct me if I am incorrectly quoting you Scott.

    From what I understand, if you are not looking to mess with overclocking then you should just buy the 2600 chip and not the 2600k. Likewise if you want to OC go for a P series board and if you don't want to OC then the H series is the cheaper and probably more appropriate route.

    actually we hit 5GHz but its not something i would normally sell.
    4.5-4.7GHz i am very comfortable with. so yes 4.5 should not be an issue

    Wow that's really impressive. Did it take a lot of work to get it to 5? What mobo was that on and was it still using the noctua fan or did you have to add extra cooling?

    I'm interested in this board too, but the spec says it uses Via firewire chipset, and most posting here seems to recommend TI chipset. Are you using firewire and how is the performance ?


    As I checked, the current Asus P8P67 Pro is at revision 3 which means it's not affected by the Intel P67 chipset bug (in stepping B2).


    Previously I was planning to get AMD Phenom II X6 1100T with Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H (with TI firewire chipset), but it seems the Intel 2600K performs better and the price different is not so great.

    I ended up not getting the ASUS Pro afterall. Tigerdirect had it when I placed my order and a week later it still hadn't shipped and then it went on back order and stayed that way for a month despite their customer service telling me that they had a pallet with 500 pieces? in their warehouse. I have used the VIA firewire chipset in other motherboards with Presonus Firepods with great success. TI are supposed to be better so if this really is a concern for you I think you should stick to your guns and get a mobo with a TI chipset.
     
    I ended up getting the ASROCK Fatal1ty mobo from newegg. I can't say enough good things about them. They had shipping info for me in less than 6 hours after my purchase. I have not yet tested this mobo out because I'm having some rather strange backup issues at the moment with my current system.

    I found that the firewire chipset in the ASROCK Fatal1ty is the VIA VT6330
