MOTU Microbook - Installation problems -solved-

Hi!

I`m running windos 7 proffesional 32-bit and I just bought a MOTU Microbook.

Initally it seems like everything is working well. The Microbook is registered as primary audio device, and all sounds are playing through the Microbook.

When I start MOTU Audio console, I get this message:

"No MOTU Audio Device could be found. Make sure yout MOTU Audio deveice is connected, powered on, and that the drivers are installed."

When I start MOTU SMPTE Console I get this message:

"No MOTU Audio deveice detected"

I can, how ever, start the CueMix FX program. This part work perfectly. EQ, channels, dynamics, meters, etc, etc, all works and sound is pouring from my headset.

When I try to record sound, I get the message

 "No recodring device detected"

It seems like only parts of MOTU Microbook is installed....
I have tried to reinstall software, changed USB-wire, remove all other audio devices on my computer, disabled hibernate/powersaving mode, disable power down on USB controllers and unistalled antivirus programs.

Still, I get the message that the device is not installed or connected as I try to launch MOTU Audio console.

Any ides out ther? =)

I`m kind of lost here :S

Try installing the drivers again.  But this time, disable "User Account Control" from the Users section of the Control Panel.  THis can cause certain items to fail installation.

Thx for the advice. As I entered the "User Account Control Settings" I learned that I had allready disabled this right after I installed Windows 7 (I remeber now that I didnt like all the warnings, so I disabeled it from the beginning).

So I`m afraid im still in the dark here.

I suspect it must be hardware error on the Microbook. It`s allmost like the output works fine, but the rest is not :S

I just learned that the MOTU Microbook is not controlled by MOTU Audio Console or MOTU SMPTE Console.

Puzzels me why these applications are included in the installation file for MOTU Microbook, but I guess its an installation file for more hardware than the Microbook alone..... Confused me =)

In other words; my MOTU Microbook works as inteded :)

hi sam - I am curious, if it doesn't use the audio console - what does it use?  Microsoft USB codec?

    i7, 16G DDR3, Win10x64, MOTU Ultralite Hybrid MK3
Yamaha MOXF6, Hammond XK3c, other stuff.

Hmm, I`m no pro at this topic (might have proven that allready =), but it uses MOTU CueMix FX. This is basicly a program to mix the channels, do some EQ settings, dynamic settings, adjust sinus wave etc etc.

As for the codec, I`m not sure. The Microbook uses ASIO sound protocol (dunno if this include or is a code).

The Audio Console I was refering to is just software to controll other type of hardware produced by MOTU. More advanced sound devices than the Microbook.

I`m not sure if I was able to give you a good answere :S but I tried =)
