A mov. file is a type of video file just like a wav file. Mov files include audio, so I imagine the video file doesn't match up w/ the audio file settings in SONAR.

..well I'm not sure what doesn't match up....recording at 16 bit, 44.1khz ...the .mov file is off my digital camera....am I supposed to jump thru a hoop to do something with the video's audio to make it 16bit or something?.....All I'm wanting to do, is use the video from the camera and the audio track recorded directly into SONAR and then resave the video for upload,etc...is this not possible with hoop jumping? I saw a Youtube demo of a simple Mac program that sync'd video to external audio tracks...it was such a beautiful, smooth thing...never got that feeling with SONAR, which always felt like software shoehorned into a business pc (which it is!)...

.MOVs are just container file types for various video codecs as well as various audio codecs. If it's the audio, perhaps you need to grab AAC which is the most common audio codec. For video, yeah there's a lot of different codecs that can be used. What camera do you have, go to their support page and see what video codec they are using. H264? MotionJPEG1 or 2? MPEG4? ON2VP6? There's so many available for a QT MOV (same as AVI. File types are just containers for compression methods.

Do you have the QuickTime player installed?
During SONARs installation you are asked if you want to install it.
You tried importing the mov file didn't you. SONAR won't natively open a mov file by double clicking it.

That error can come up when Sonar and Quicktime are set to use the same driver. Set Sonar to use ASIO if you haven't already, which quicktime doesn't know about.

Download the free 'winff' and convert it to AVi first, then import it video and audio. Once you're done with your New audio, export the audio, then use Quicktime to delete the original audio from the .mov file, select your recently exported audio, copy/paste into quicktime movie you cut the audio from. Save as, and Viola!

What sample rate is the audio in the video file? Many cameras and such record at 48khz, so that may be the issue. SP
