I think if we can caress one more good year each out of Smoltz and Wakefield (probably from the pen this year with Smoltz, Penny and maybe even Masterson rounding out a solid 7(!) starters with Daisuke, Beckett, Lester, and Bucholz), and if we can use Baldelli productively (read - to give Drew and Ellsbury a night off here and there), AND if Big Papi can learn to play without Manny behind him, then we should have a good year. I am of the camp that supports bundling Bucholz, Lugo and a prospect to get Hanley Ramirez, but I'm not too optimistic about that one. And I'm not really sure what we need Saito for, I mean, we did lose Timlin, but DelCarmen, Okajima, and maybe Masterson (along with Wakefield doing spot starts and long relief) are more than capable of carrying the bullpen through to Papelbon. Maybe they think Saito can close games that aren't save opportunities? Not sure on that one. Well, Jim Rice finally made the Hall of Fame, and that is just freakin' AWESOME!!!!

    Go Sox!!!

Aw, what the hell...might as well go with it now.

Here's a video about Rice making it to the HOF

In the last thirty years, their have been only TWO teams to win the World Series with a payroll of ONE HUNDRED MILLION, or more dollars. Can you name the teams?

I would guess...Boston in 2004 and Boston in 2007? Maybe Yankees in 2000? Nah... I guess I could cheat and look it up, but I have a hunch you're staying with the theme of the thread...

Well I believe the Lions are the best team with an unbeatable record. You guys have no idea how hard it is to have a perfect record.

Why is called World Series when other countries in the world don't take part? (like the World Cup in football (soccer) for example).

    Just curious.

I've been a Lions fan for so long that I remember CHARLIE Sanders, old #88, a receiver in the early 60s

im assuming the people born there are sorta fans by default. or...maybe they just dont recognize that they have a team? whats the nearest team to there? cleveland? indianapolis?
