Hi,
What is the difference between :
Cakewalk MP3 Activation and Cakewalk MP3 Encoder Download
 
Do I have to buy both?

    To use the integrated mp3 encoder in

    SONAR Artist, SONAR Professional, SONAR Platinum, SONAR X1-X3, SONAR 4-8.5, SONAR Home Studio 4-7, Project5 Version 2, Music Creator 3-7, Guitar Tracks Pro 4, Kinetic , SONAR LE, Music Creator LE, and Project5 LE

    all you need to purchase is the MP3 activation.
     
    The mp3 encoder is for much older Cakewalk products.
     
    FYI, a license to use mp3 in a Cakewalk product is a one time purchase. If you ever purchased the mp3 encoder, mp3 activation program or a Cakewalk product that included an mp3 license such as ProAudio 9, Cakewalk support will supply the current unlock program at no charge.

    How do you activate the MP3 export in Sonar X3 once I have purchased the licence?

    Its been awhile but I believe you just run the .exe.  You might have to extract the download first, though.
