Machias River of Maine in fall color
I'm just getting warmed up by sorting through all the photos I took while visiting Maine the past two weeks. Here's the first picture I spent some time on. My wife and I decided to travel inland from the coast for one day. It was a mini road trip. We learned that Down East Maine doesn't have a lot of paved roads and we also learned the maps do not differentiate between paved and gravel. We drove up to the edge of the mountains on US Highway 1 and then doubled back on what we thought would be pleasant "country roads". After traversing about 50 miles of obscure gravel logging roads we were real happy to find an official picnic site with a view like this. :-) You can right click to view the image at a larger size. best regards, mike

I agree. I have a McQ shot of the moon as desktop wallpaper, he often post pics like this that would make excellent backdrops cropped to the right dimensions. We should start a campaign for some official signed McQ wallpapers.

Thanks to everyone for taking a look. Hi Rimshot, I'd be happy to send you a hi res version but it seems like the vertical orientation makes it inappropriate. I could crop it, The full res is 3744x5616, but the composition will never have the same effect. I'm sorting through 2340+/- photos. If I find a nice horizontal I can send you a PM. We only shot leaves for one day as it really started happening at the end of our trip. I hardly shot any horizontal photos on this trip because I have been printing vertical style for the past year and I'm trying to dial in my "scouting" eye to be effective at recognizing good opportunities to make pictures with that orientation. I think it is because our house is so small and I can display vertical images where as the horizontal stuff I have done in the past ends up being stored away. all the best, mike
