Macro / CAL Script
In older versions of Cakewalk & Sonar I relied on added " . CAL" routines (midi only) that extended the editing solutions that Cakewalk did not provide in their standard menu choices. As an example, if you wanted to have notes on a piano started at random times you would select your track, then load the CAL routine called RANDOM NOTES.CAL & based on the amount of clock ticks you specified the CAL routine would have restructured all the notes start time spread from 0 (zero) to the maximum number of ticks you requested. The CAL scripts were written back in the DOS days & can still be very useful to extend SONARS capabilities.
My question here relates to providing the user with a way to record keystrokes, then post them to a script file & have the software generate an automated CAL script file? More like a MACRO that Nuendo & Cubase utilize. I need to take the finished midi drum track, make copies & transpose all the note numbers so I can access Battery 4 where I currently store & access the additional samples. I use all 64 slots in B4 & the toms occupy 32 of these slots & it is used for every song I produce.
Although SSD4 (Steven Slate Drums V4) allows you to import additional sounds SSD4 does not provide all the editing tools & options necessary for the samples to be used within the SSD4 environment. In my case I cannot utilize the added HH (high hats) that I add to the drum kit because the open HH will not close when followed by a closed HH so it continues to ring even after the closed HH is played. The newly imported High Hat samples all remain Polyphonic & cannot be placed or changed into a monophonic group. Since Steven Slate programmers no longer answer the call for duty (so I assume they are no longer working with Steven) sadly, I assume I have the last update that will ever be released by SSD4 drums. I have made numerous requests only to be greeted with silence over the last few years.
You guys can probably see that there is a lot of tedious work that goes into this procedure so I wanted to have this automated so I could press a key & have this performed without too much human intervention.
I could be wrong but I don't think that there is a way to do this within the Sonar environment. If someone here knows of a method that's hidden away in one of the menus then please let me know. I would really appreciate it.
I apologize for such a long post but I couldn't make it much shorter.
Cheers & Happy Summer!
