Mai Gnu Gitar
Normally I would have gone for the Gibson, but didn't feel like spending the cash for one. Instead, I tried the 'other' brand: Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus - Black Cherry. Assuming this puppy won't fall apart in a few years, I have to say I am impressed. Plays great. Has a great feel. Looks great. So I saved a few bucks and still got something I like. That feels good. Funny that during my entire online shopping experience for this guitar, I never noticed this model came without a pick-guard. I didn't realize that until I started actually playing it. No problem though. I like the look without it. Also included in the price was a nice case.

Beautiful. I can't testify as to the quality of new Epiphones, but I've had my E-LP for about 20 years and it's been rock solid.

Very nice! Only thing I would do is have a qualified luthier check out the electronics. I had a couple things to upgrade (cheaply) in my Epiphone and it was every bit as good as the Gibson version (IMO anyway).
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Congratulations! A beauty! I have a few Epiphones that I really like. Although my main guitar is my Gibson white LP Studio, I still occasionally play my black Epiphone LP. It's a solid guitar. My only problem with Epi is that my sweat ruined the hardware in a matter of a couple of months, whereas my Gibson's hardware only lost a tiny bit of it's finish after years. On the other hand, my sweat "ruined" the paint on my Gibson, whereas the Epiphanies are just fine. Go figure. I also prefer the standard Gibson bridge to the Epiphone's, with its wire, but that's a detail. I believe the LP Tribute Plus comes with excellent pick-ups. I have a Traditional that comes with Epi's own copy of Gibson's 57 and Burstbucker and they sound very good, a lot warmer than the default 498 that comes on a lot of Gibsons these days - to my ear anyway.

I've two basses, and and two guitars (my acoustic is a cheap one too), but the metal worn on my Epiphone dot picks up oils and and and chemicals (Hot and Humid hear and Studio room means exposure to cooking vapurs) from the atmosphere really easy. Just looking at the now, the Tuning pegs, bridge, pickup covers, switch bolt, all have a heavy dullness too them, whiles the other 3 guitars looks fine. Silver doesn't respond well either, but If I put my flutes away, they don't get played so much (Need to get a cabinet made for them)

My Epi's hardware after a few months. (It's a lot worst now) My Gibson's after 2 years. (The red walls are reflected on the bridge itself, which is misleading. But only the top of the nut and the top of the first 3 saddles lost their coating - notice that the pick up is impeccable.) The paint is a different story though, even though I treat it as gently as I can.

Ken , Very Nice Epiphone Guitar I've had lots of enjoyment over the years playing various Epiphone guitars both vintage and new . Right now the only Epiphone I have is one of these in the same color . I'm very happy with it ... enjoy yours , Kenny

Nice guitar! Makes me think maybe I need a LP in the collection. I'm a big fan of buying the "lesser model" (Epi, MIM Fender) and then upgrading the bits and pieces where they've cut corners. You get a decent guitar, customized to what you want, and cheaper than the full high-end price.

That's purdy ... I had a '12 E-LP that was a fine guitar. I may have to consider one of these.
