Majestic fuzz box like DimPro's Les Paul?

Crazy question I know? As my guitar skills improve (slightly) I'm trying to emulate the fuzzy DimPro patch(s).

IOWs, Which Les Paul or similar guitar and which fuzz box do you think might emulate DimPro's?

It would have to use single coil pups, so an old one.

You will get much better fuzz tones with strats and teles than a les paul. Humbuckers work ok with a fuzz box, but single coils have the sound hands down for great fuzz tone.

I'm stuck in the past, but my foot's tapping forward

Thanks Ron for responding ... as I have a lot to learn about getting that majestic sweet fuzz tone.

I'm researching single coil pups, now.

The tone I'm seeking varies from a *fog horn* to a *non-crunchy* constructive distortion pompish sound. I can't get over how majestic that DimPro sampler (rompler) sounds.

My axes currently are just a mid-level Ibby and a bunch of acoustics.

I may get a Strat but have been concerned about 'shreaking' and my ear-sensitivity in the mid to mid-highs.

By mere coincidence I restrung one of my SGs yesterday. I just wanted to play some mid-high output humbuckers and get that sound.

I don't know how to answer your question.

I know it's a sincere question... and my answer is also sincere.

If you get yourself a Les Paul (or some nice PAF style humbuckers for your IBBY) and a fuzz box you'll understand that you are asking the question backwards.

Getting a guitar to sound like Dimension is probably darn near impossible. Hint: That's one of those backhanded comments.

    best regards,

    Thanks Mike,

I think I'll get the Les Paul Studio, FWIW, and then research fuzz boxes.

I thought the Rompler's and DimPro used authentic Les Paul samples.
Note: East West QL Ministry of Rock contains excellent Les Paul samples (real ones) ... but as you may have alluded, they don't sound as sweet as DimPro's Les Paul to my ears.

There's something about that 'fog-horn' guitar sound that DimPro captured that makes me seek it out more and more.

I guess all I mean is that the Les Paul will get so many more sounds than a sampler will ever be ale to present.

So asking the Les Paul to cover the Dim Pro patch is just a subset of what it will do.

    best regards,
    mike.

I did order the Robot Les Paul studio, today ... to add to my growing guitar collection
