Make an X-1 instal dvd

Cakewalk already has DVD's if you want to buy them.

Get them from Intelliware (the Aussie distributor). might be cheaper.

Well I just took all the installers which I kept from all my previous purchases and put them on my external harddrive for future use, but I don't see why you can't just put them on a CD, copy-paste. They're just exe or zip files, aren't they? Why wouldn't you just do that?

I guess I just want the box so it can sit next to my collection of software.
The box will most likely never be opened because of the down loaded version which by the way has been saved to 3 different hdd,s. 

I will save them to dvd but its not the same as having the box.

Cakewalk customer service have replied and said that nothing can be done about the shipping cost.

Get used to boxes not being included and being forced to download from here on out. It's got nothing to do with being green, it's all corporate greed.

Be careful where you buy it from. You can get the OEM DVD's from Sweetwater.com, but they ship them without the box. I was pissed about it, because like you, I wanted the box. It even says it comes in a box on their web site but it just comes in a slim cardboard package. Anyway ... be careful where you get it from and ask first before you buy it if it comes in a box or just the DVD's. Sweetwater does not charge extra if you want the DVD's like the Cakewalk Store, but again there's no box, although you do get a booklet and a fold out keychart.

As for a slipstreamed disk, a true slipstreamed disc is one where the installation.exe has been altered and it has the updates embedded in it. There's a couple of web sites that walk you through how to do it with XP so you don't have to spend hours downloading the updates, but I haven't seen anything like that for X1 or any previous version of Sonar.

I made one of those slipstream discs for XP. It ran a lot better when I did a fresh install from the slipstream disc because none of the old crap that the updates fixed ever hit my system in the first place. You have less registry entries, less backed up .dll's, etc.

Every time an official patch (not a quick fix) comes out for X1 I always format, reinstall, and run the latest patch so there's no crap left over in my registry, and God knows what else, from the previous patch. I keep my samples and audio files on a separate HDD than my X1 installation so it doesn't take much time at all to do a fresh install of just the program and VST's.

I have one more proposition which I have put forward to customer services.

Only time will tell if we will strike a deal.
