Making CD with additional sound fx

I'm doing a CD with my music and I want it to have certain sounds such as wave breaks and other sounds from nature. Where should I add the sound fx? They are formostly going to be featured inbetween tracks. Should I add the sounds in Sonar or should I do the music and then add fx in a software such as Wavelab or CD Architect?

I would think that adding them in Sonar would allow you to match the volume levels of the effects vs the songs.
Also, you can implement crossfades if you want. And you can ensure that there are (or are not) any gaps between the song and the effect.

I guess that using Sonar gives you more control and flexibility.

Thank you, Larry - nice tip.

    Any alternative methods?

Assemble your CD in a SONAR project, importing each song along a single stereo track. This gives you maximum control and flexibility for song sequence, fades, gaps, and matching levels from song to song. Your sound effects could fade in while the previous song is fading out, then fade the effects out as the next song starts.

After you've got everything the way you want, export the project as one big 16-bit wave. Ozone is a nice addition at this point, since it can both serve as a brickwall limiter and do the dither, too.

When you're done, you'll have one big file. Use your CD-burning software (e.g. Nero) to place index markers, split it up into individual CD tracks and burn the disc.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks, I will probably send the tracks to someone for mastering however. Should I send the big wav file with all songs and fx ro should I send the songs only and then apply fx afterwards?

Discuss this with the mastering engineer...I would not advise adding anything after the ME has done his/her job, but that's just my opinion...
