Making music for a video game.. need HELP!!!

i just aquired sonar producer edition, i dont really know how to use the program. i am saving my music files (midi files) to a flash drive right from my keyboard (yamaha ypg-535). i figured out how to import my midi file but when i play the music i cant hear anything. any advice on getting started or any kind of help would be much appreciated.

    I made the same mistake when I started. MIDI is just inaudible instructions, you need to send them to a synth. Go to http://www.cakewalk.com/C...ONARU.aspx/Get-Started and find the "Inserting Synths" demo. I like to keep the MIDI and Synth on separate tracks (the demo shows them combined in the "simple track").

    You sound just like me....except a little ahead!...
     
    i have a yamaha, have recorded files on the instrument and know how to save to a stick.
    also have a cable midi out port  to usb port in on computer...? (can I record deirect to laptop/software?)
    what software do i buy?
