Managing Screensets

Hi - I have been playing with screensets today - and think I have the basics figured out.

I understand that when I have ss1 evoked, hit 2, ss2 will appear.  If I make any change to the screen configuration while in ss2, hit 1, ss1 will reappear.  If I then hit 2, ss2 will reappear looking as I had last changed it (because when you go to a new screenset, the one you are in is automatically saved without notice).  In other words, I am always "in" one of 10 screensets, and any ss will be as it was the last time I "exited" that ss.

If I don't want that, I can, while in ss2, lock it.  Then, if I am in ss2 and make some screen changes, exit ss2, then reenter it later, it will display the locked configuration.

If that's all true, do those of you who are now well-seasoned in screensets get them set up the way you want them, then lock them?  Doing otherwise seems like inviting mayhem.

Thanks for any insight.

I'll be asking about importing later.

I lock them for my template(s) then unlock if needed per project.

I'll 2nd what Larry is saying!
For me leaving them unlocked would certainly invite trouble. I'll only unlock if I need to make a change.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

I have all of mine locked but I also have "Unlock screenset" set to a key binding - I use the ` key.

In fact you've just reminded me. I'd like to see some sort of visual indicator to show whether a SS is locked or not. I know it's viewable from the menu but I don't want to stop and drop a menu while I'm in full creative flow but want to make a quick permanent change to the current SS.

Off to the feature request page now............
