Manchester promises free Melodyne - they want $99

I have a full license to Melodyne but the supposed automatic free download doesn't happen and if I follow the instruction in the Manchester release it takes me to my Celemony account and demands $99 for an upgrade. I'm launched, loaded and logged in - no dice. Somebody want to give them a call please?

The only free upgrade is to Melodyne 4 Essential. There is no free upgrade to any other version.

Indeed. I have Melodyne Essential version 2.1.2 (provided with Sonar 2 which I upgraded to Sonar 3 and then Sonar Platinum) which was upgraded once before. I have installed activated and used it. I go to the Preferences as indicated in the Manchester update and we're back to my first post. Both previous Melodyne Essentials are listed in MyAccount 'Products'.

You will need to contact Celemony if your are having problems getting the upgrade but it sound like you are not selecting the correct option on their site. The upgrade to Essential 4 is free to any Essential user, it has nothing to do with Cakewalk.

OK - but I'm offered only one option by Celemony (pay) linking via the method recommended by Cakewalk as the automatic update you reference does not occur - hence asking for your help.

I’m a little confused about this as well. I upgraded to the Editor version of Melodyne 3. Now that Melodyne Essentials 4 is included as a Sonar upgrade, what features will I have access to without upgrading to Melodyne Editor 4? Can I switch between Editor 3 and Essentials 4 by entering both serial numbers and if so how do I switch between them? Would there even be reason to do that? When I fire up Melodyne and look for the info I’m seeing Melodyne 2.1.2 and I’m guessing that is Melodyne 3 Editor? Hmmm… perhaps I’m more than a little confused…

There was no v3 of Melodyne Editor. Only Melodyne Studio has a v3. You have the most recent version of Editor 2. There is no free upgrade available for Editor 2. You can see the feature list for Essential and Editor at the Celemony site. Essential 4 would be a downgrade from Editor 2 even though it would be a more recent version.

Thanks for the quick response Scook. I took a quick look over the Melodyne site and if I understand correctly the multitrack functions only come with the top end Studio version of Melodyne. That was the feature that really caught my attention but if it doesn’t come with Essentials 4 then sticking with Melodyne 3 Editor does seem the better bet. Thanks again for the help.

The multitrack feature is only available using Studio. All other versions are single track products. The upgrade to Studio is ~125$ through March from resellers.

As the Essential 2 to Essential 4 upgrade is free it isn't done in the shop but in your account on the Celemony website.
