Manic Compressor | Boz Digital

Manic Compressor does not officially launch until Monday Nov 23. It is available for purchase now, but there may be updates made before the official release.
Manic Compressor was designed from the beginning to be more than just a compressor. It was designed to unleash the power of parallel compression without requiring complex routing in your DAW.
Even with 6 different compressor modes and a comprehensive parallel routing setup, Manic Compressor uses an intuitive interface to get you way more power from your compressor than you’ve ever had before.

It's nice...really versatile...just went through the presets but
definitely adds some mojo sauce...

Just use the demo myself on a drum bus. Has some interesting presets for sure.

I kind of like this juan. But $79 is maybe just a little too high price for yet another compressor. $49 and I'd be on it even though I do like what it does (so far) from the presets.

Right now it's $99 with $20 off.

Or were you supposing IF it was $79 with $20 off?

Jamaican Plain: VST3 has problems used on mono tracks. Slight signal only passing thorough the mid or sides on the bass. VST2 works fine.
Nice comp, fair price at $79.00.

update- In Kingston- both vst2/3 versions freeze Sonar when used on mono tracks.

I've several of the Boz plugins, both VST and AU versions and I'm impressed by them. The +10dB compressor/eq is something I use quite a lot, as is the Imperial Delay. So I'm tempted.

On the other hand, how many compressors do I really need or the world require.....

Sonar Platinum 64bit, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, I7 3770K Ivybridge, 16GB Ram, Gigabyte Z77-D3H m/board,
ATI 7750 graphics+ 1GB RAM, 2xIntel 520 series 220GB SSDs, 1 TB Samsung F3 + 1 TB WD HDDs, Seasonic fanless 460W psu, RME Fireface UFX, Focusrite Octopre.
Assorted real synths, guitars, mandolins, diatonic accordions, percussion, fx and other stuff.

kicks some booty on drums...but yeah...how many compressors do you need?  This one seems to give you 6+++ more as well.  VERY easy to adjust, fiddling just for the first 5 minutes or so.  This stuff has to be "impulse buy" level to jump on it and $79 is just out of reach.  Peanuts I'm sure for many, but you could easily go wild with the $$ flowing out of the wallet at $79 a pop.   Too much cool stuff to keep bill and food money secure :-)

I have the +10 db bundle...I like it..but don't use it very
often..

We kind of gravitate to our "go to's" most of the time...
and the others collect "virtual dust"...but, hey, when
you need them...there they are!

Although I am self employed, I don't make the lion's share of $$ from audio.  And...being self employed, know about having the right stuff to save you time and money and working towards the best final product.  But having a zillion compressor choices might in the long run just slow this engineer down.  If I was at this full time, it'd be an instant buy.

I looked into this one, as I have the +10 bundle and use it regularly. But I spent more than I should have already this month on a couple of Waves plugs(my first from them). I have to agree: how many different compressors and EQs do I really need??!!??

Do have to say though that I'm enjoying the dbx 160 on a drum buss today. And I used the Kramer HLS on a male rock vocal. Pretty sweet.

My firm motto is: "I will never, ever, ever, ever! buy another compressor.  Or EQ, or reverb for that matter, Heck, even won't buy another synth - I'm saturated!"   That said, Boz has great tools.  This one looks very nice.  For an impulse buy, maybe at $49 as others have said.  But, given there are too many compressors on my tool belt already this would be just overkill.  So I'm going to pass on it I think.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

OMG!!  this isn't your average Joe compressor.  This thing is insane...  Not to mention a really nice GUI, imo.  I may have to think seriously about this.  On bass, drums....oh my goodness.  This is going to be hard to pass on.  I just found the M/S too... oh my... EQ....wowza...entering into uncharted waters.

I've been playing with this demo non stop now....for....  well a loooong time.

my first impressions were 'ho hum'....but that was only after about 10 minutes of the demo.  After an evening, because it kept getting better and better... well....that's why I spent the evening.  Plus the GUI is hypnotizing :-)

I've spent more money on plugins and music software this year than in the last 5 or so years, yet I've not earnt one single dollar from music this year. Something very wrong with this reasoning.

I think I need to join a self help group.

No more plugins please.

I've made the decision this is the last (new) compressor I'll ever buy.

That of course does preclude buying an upgrade if the feature set warrants it.

It is a very good compressor. I tried it briefly and liked what it did for the drums.
It is on my "future buy" list.
All money available now is allocated for Black Friday, hopefully something good from NI.

I just tried the Manic demo again with the latest Sonar Kingston update.
The vst3 version now freezes up projects when placed on a mono track. Works fine on my other daws.
