Manual...Where is it?

Cakewalk used to send manuals from their flagship product (Cakewalk Pro Audio, then Sonar).  They stopped on Sonar6.  I could agree with them on stopping it, because there were minimal changes, or improvements that was made to the program.  With the new 're-vamping' of X1, I think they should have sent a manual for this one as there are too many changes, or 'improvements' made to the workflow of Sonar.  Before people chime on this and says things like Power books (which are not free), help file (which takes me away from my workflow) and videos (which is not the same thing as a reference manual), understand that I am not talking about 3rd party books.....I used to know this program inside out, now I feel kinda like an outsider.  All that to say 'Darn, I wish they sent me a manual'......thanks in advance for letting me vent my disappointment.

For what its worth... the "3rd party book" Sonar X1 Power is REALLY an awesome companion.  With it I didnt need the 1800 + page PDF X1 manual (contained in the help links above).

Are you referring to hard copy versus a pdf, because the pdf is here:

Yes.  I am referring to the hard copy.....I realize  that I could print it, but it seems [in my opinion] like for all of the new 'things' they have added, the hard print would have served as a more intuitive in itself, especially for legacy users, who at one point[like myself] had the manual, while learning Cakewalk, or a cool looking book to read on the subway on my way to work...

But in all honesty, I forgot the manual was PDF'd nowadays...thanks for reminding me.

Thanks, Mick! I really appreciate the mention.

Hey... I wonder if I should change the title of future editions to...
SONAR X1 Power! - The Really Awesome Companion
It has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

At 1800 pages you likely wouldn't be carrying it around much

You should really consider the X1 Power Book. It's a great supplemental piece for X1, and I find it an easier (friendlier) read than the manual in how it is written.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

Thanks for your mention too, Sean! Yeah, the SONAR X1 Power! book is written like a regular book... not a manual. Although it can be used as a reference, I always recommend that readers read it cover-to-cover at least once (like you would a regular book) to get the most out of it.

    Hi Day,

Yep, the printed manual that Cakewalk used to include with the software was definitely nice. I have most of them from the older versions. But as far as I know, none of the DAW applications include a full printed manual any longer. I think the last one I got was with Sibelius 6, but that's notation software and not a DAW. It's cool that they're still including that though, but I wonder how long that will last.

In all honesty, the book couldnt be that much more than it is now, I think the manual was like like 300-500 pages, there isn't 1300 pages of new features in sonar...

    Really?

    The Contents alone encompass pages 5 - 49, the Index 1817 - 1849, there's 78 pages straight away.

A veritable short story, all by itself.

Don't think much of the plot though.............

Yes but the "New in Sonar X1" section is only 7 pages long.

Funny UT. I guess new in X1 only explains new features rather than new GUI. I think the list of new shortcuts is almost that long. Not that it is all bad, but certainly a bit of a learning curve. I think I should check out Scott's book.

Hmmm... 7 pages ... yes, but that's only the -very sparse- "sum-up" from what's new. The actual descriptions are scattered around the Manual. You can get to them by clicking on the items. And those descriptions a tiny bit more then those 7 pages....
