Manx cat...
Back before Christmas I went to town in the evening to see my grand daughter in the parade. While walking back a couple of blocks to our office where I had parked I heard a kitten "MEOW". I turned around and this little black kitten was following me up the sidewalk from the dumpster area, and some ground cover by the sidewalk. no houses there. So I turned around and picked it up. I took a couple more steps and heard it again... picked anther one. Went about ten more steps and heard another one... picked it up too. I got back to the office with an armload of kittens. Our cat had been killed a few months earlier so I had some cat food inside. I put them on the front porch and went and got some food and a box. They ate 2 and a half cans of food. I called my daughter, she has two daughters and two step children so she came and got them...
Well, one of them, the female had no tail. We thought it had been bitten off or something. She has always been a small cat too. A few days ago she had 4 kittens and one has no tail, one has a nub, and the other two have tails but not really long. I Googled cat with no tail and found the Manx. She fits every description, she is small, she is a relentless hunter, she kills and eats chipmonks etc, she has the round head and longer back legs. I am amazed that someone would discard a Manx... though I didn't know what she was until now. The other two kittens are male and they tend to lay around and sleep... not "Princess Fluffy" she is seldom around the porch... she is always hunting.
I may talk my wife into getting the kitten with no tail. She would have a blast here. (especially, alas, around my bird feeders.) We have woods on three sides.
